The Alliance Francaise d'Adelaide is a not-for-profit association sponsored by the French government. The University of South Australia's Samstag Museum of Art is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading university art museums. Opened in late 2007, the Museum is named in honour of two distinguished American benefactors to Australian culture, whose remarkable bequest provides scholarships - administered through UniSA - for Australian artists to study overseas. The Samstag Museum presents a changing exhibitions program of contemporary visual art, and art of the past. The Museum additionally manages and develops the UniSA Art Collection.
Aptos Cruz Galleries is an Art and Design house in Stirling, South Australia; just 20mins drive from the Adelaide CBD. The gallery is set in the Adelaide Hills in a beautiful 1860’s sandstone church with an architectural award-winning contemporary extension.
The Araluen Cultural Precinct is the premier location to experience Central Australian Art and Culture. The precinct includes the Museum of Central Australia, the Strehlow Research Centre, the Central Australian Aviation Museum, Central Craft and the Araluen Arts Centre, home to Aboriginal and Contemporary Art, the Albert Namatjira Gallery, Aboriginal Cultural Art Tours, Arthouse Cinema and live theatre.
An orchestra of up to 40 musicians comprising strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. Most members are retired and the orchestra regularly performs concerts throughout suburban Adelaide. The repertoire ranges from light classics to evergreen favourites. A vocalist is often featured.
The Art Gallery of South Australia holds one of Australia's finest art collections in one of Adelaide's most beautiful buildings. General admission is free to the oustanding Australian, European, Asian and contemporary collections. Free guided tours leave daily at 11am and 2pm. Special exhibitions change throughout the year (charges may apply). The Gallery also offers a restaurant, Adelaide's most extensive art bookshop, function hire rooms and lecture theatre. Open daily 10am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day).
